Jon Cavanagh, LPC

Jon graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Completing his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, the National Association of Christian Counselors, the American College Counseling Association as well as the Ohio Counseling Association.

Jon has experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, having worked with many students from junior high through college, as well as adults. He appreciates the opportunity to come alongside those of all ages wrestling with mental and emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss and grief, negotiating life transitions, the struggles of competitive athletes, adoption, and trauma.

Along with his experience with college students and young adults, he also has helped many people with various addictions including drug and alcohol abuse, pornography, excessive video game consumption and more. Jon’s served in many positions while working in a residetnial college such as Student Development office including Campus Pastor, and Resident Director and Coach. These postions allowed him to connect with students working through a variety of concerns from all over the world.

Jon is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Repocessing) trained, and utilizes various approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Adlerian and Solution Focused Brief Therapy all with a Trauma Informed approach.  His thoughtful and practical approach to clients is supported by what his students and colleagues have described as caring and forthright while maintaining a warm sense of humor.

When not working, Jon enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters, following the Buckeyes and Cleveland sports team as well as playing golf or watching Maine Cabin Masters.
